ABOUT

Alan Carr is a designer and illustrator who focuses on utilizing color, composition, and thoughtful craftsmanship to create engaging communication. He provides design, art direction, and visual storytelling services in print and digital media. Originally from Atlanta GA, he is a graduate of Savannah College of Art & Design.

Based in New York, he has worked for various design firms and publishing companies, including Callisto Media, Scholastic, Penguin Random House, and Barnes & Noble. He has also developed books, gift sets, toys, and other products for a variety of retail clients, such as Restoration Hardware, Ross Stores, Michael’s, Five Below, and T.J. Maxx, as well as Cocktail Kingdom, a D2C website that provides premium branding solutions and products for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts.

His illustrations have been featured in the NY Times Book Review and other publications, and his paintings have been exhibited in gallery shows in New York and Los Angeles. He has also been commissioned by clients like interior design firm GFF and global IT company Wipro Limited, to create custom installations in corporate spaces.

Potions of the Caribbean, which he art directed, won “Best Cocktail Book of the Year” at Tales of the Cocktail 2014. In 2018, he received a silver medal in the “Digital Art” category, and gold medal in the “Illustration” category in the Indigo Design Awards competition.
